One of black metal's biggest, baddest and most uncompromising bands, Satyricon, are back with their follow-up to the controversially-laid-back Now, Diabolical.
The new album is called The Age of Nero, and expert linguists amongst you will note that 'Nero' means 'Black'.
Thanks to Metal Hammer, the band, and some digital marketing people, you can now hear the first four tracks from said album, (released in November), on the magazine's website (right here).
Fans of either Satyricon or black metal in general are likely to be impressed (or perhaps relieved) by the bigger, louder, faster sound compared with the previous album - but evidence here suggests Satyr & Frost's latest is no retreat, but marks a further honing of their quite unique and versatile approach to extreme metal.
'Commando' is the best, but digital single 'Black Crow on a Tombstone' has the best name.
Enjoy!
